Tragic Loss: Autopsy Exposes Drug Complications Behind Destiny Boy’s Death
Nigerian singer Afeez Adesina, popularly known as Destiny Boy, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 22. According to a police autopsy report revealed by The Daily Trust Newspaper, the consultant anatomic pathologist found harmful levels of tramadol and its metabolites, along with methamphetamine, in his system.The cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of these toxic substances.
His family had sought both medical and traditional treatments for his long-term seizures, but the pressures of the music industry and coping mechanisms apparently led him to hard drugs. Initial suspicions of foul play faded once the toxicology results were released.
